Photon Mono is a DUP resin 3D printer from Anycubic, a Chinese manufacturer of budget-friendly machines. It provides a decent build volume and good printing speed through a matrix of 15 LED sources.
Photon Mono is an affordable resin printer that fits on the desktop while providing great quality and build volume. The machine consists of a full metal bottom and a transparent plastic cover that blocks unwanted UV and dust.
Mono version is a step forward from Photon and Photon S. When comparing the two, the main difference that stands out is a slight increase in X and Y axes of the build volume. Mono has a bit more room, while the height limits of both machines are the same. The additional space in Mono is possible due to the light source and LCD screen changes – it is now a matrix of 15 LED lights that provides a more even curing and a monochrome LCD screen, which has better light transmission. These changes result in speed improvements without any loss of printing resolution or quality. Mono features a better, machined, build plate that helps models adhesion during the printing process.
The main downside for the machine is the slicing software. The original one has many flaws, including poor support generation and the inability to save printing profiles for different resins.
