Chiron is a large-size FDM printer with a build volume of 400 x 400 x 450 mm by a Chinese company Anycubic. It utilizes a Cartesian frame, titan extruder and auto bed leveling. Noticeable that the printer checks 25 points to level the bed, which is more than machines typically use.
Features:
FDM 3D printer enthusiasts showed great interest and demand for affordable printers with bigger volume, which especially peaked with Creality’s CR-10. As a result, many 3D printer manufacturers jumped onto the trend, pushing the build volume limits, while keeping machines on a lower price spectrum. Anycubic Chiron is one of the machines that provide large (even bigger than original CR-10) build volume, key features for printing (like touch sensor for bed leveling) and an affordable price tag. Chiron had a rough start with the first batch having quality issues, however, later redeemed itself through Anycubic pausing the production for troubleshooting.
While frame design and functionality of the machine are pretty standard for printers on the market today, there are some details specific to Chiron. For example, the Ultrabase Pro is a slight upgrade from Anycubic’s previous sticky base. These print bases are the manufacturer’s staple with a unique micro-porous technology that releases the prints once the bed cools down.
The printing bed of Chiron is supported from 2 sides, which helps in reducing the wobbling of the table. Though, for a machine with such a large volume, you may want to do some extra upgrades to improve stability even more. The overall design and electronics management of Chiron is sleek and accurate, and, commonly for Anycubic, the printer comes with all documentation needed.
